We took Stevie back to the Vet yesterday. We have decided to do preventative medication for his congestive heart failure and his heart murmur. The cost will be around $20 for a 3 month supply. He will be on the heart medicine once a day for the rest of this life. They Vet also gave us some Lasix medicine as a just in case if he started coughing again to give him, so that we didn't have to make another visit to the vet's office.
This is great news! They then gave Stevie his yearly shots. I would think that if they thought his prognosis was bad they would not give him these shots.
Last night he scared the bejeezers out of me. It was like 3am and he started his coughing. I don't know if he got choked or what but I gave him his Lasix medicine... Gosh I wish dogs could talk!
The Vet said we will see you next year. You don't have to bring him back unless you see a huge decline and just get his medicines refilled as needed! What a huge relief for us!!

The day after...
We had Meet the Teacher last night. Logan’s teacher looks like she is about 14, but this is not her first year of teaching. Her name is Ms. Bell. He actually knew 2 kids in his class. One girl named Gabby is at the daycare right now and the other boy, Colby played T-ball on the Scrappers 2 years ago.
The school has 8 kindergarten teachers and all classes have 24 students. State law says no more that 22 students in a class so they are over capacity but there is nothing they can do about it. We talked to her about the possibility of getting Logan tested to move up to 1st grade and left a note with the office to talk to the counselor as well. We will see what happens.
I teared up walking down the hallway to his class. I am going to take him to school on Monday, I can only imagine how emotional I will be then!

Today is the day...
My oldest baby will find out who his kindergarten teacher is today. That is right, tonight is Meet the Teacher at the elementary school. Is it really happening? Am I really and truly old enough to have a child in elementary school? It just doesn't seem possible!
School is old hat for Logan, he was actually in Private Kindergarten last year and this year will be a breeze for him, so much so that we are actually considering having him tested to move up to 1st grade once the school year begins. We are going to talk to his teacher tonight. My biggest concern is his emotional maturity... He is my baby...
So I am super nervous about tonight. It is that butterfly feeling I used to get before school began. Logan does not know that feeling. But he will... We don't really know any kids that will go to the elementary school but is a great big world and we are about to enter it!!

I am an idiot!
So I ruined a whole load of white clothes Saturday. Somehow I washed a blue pen with the whites and it BROKE! Most of the whites were Travis' undershirts, which is fine. But the rest of the wash was 3 pairs of my khaki pants and a nice work shirt of mine. I now have no khaki pants! I am so pissed!! I hate the fact that I now have to go buy new pants with money we don't have!!!

Happy 7th Anniversary to me!
Wow 7 years already... How can that be?? Really Travis and I have been together for 9 years. All of my 20s... Time flies when you are having fun right?!?!
If you call spending Saturday night into Sunday morning in the ER fun than we are PARTY ANIMALS!!
So here is the story...
Cole wakes up around 11PM screaming and I ran into his room. He was saying his tummy was hurting. I tried to console him and it wouldn't work. Travis came in and tried to. We kept asking him if he needed to go potty and he kept saying no.
We took him into our room. We kept trying to get him on the potty. Finally Travis took him. And Cole is screaming I can't poopy. He brings him back to our room still screaming. He lays him on our bed and I notice something red on his belly. His belly button is as red as a clown's nose.
So are different parts around where his pull-up is. He has a horrible rash. I turn him over and he has a HUGE bite on his back. He is having an allergic reaction to some sort of bite (looked like a spider bite to me). I decide we better go to the ER because the rash is starting to spread.
We call Grandpa to come over and stay with Logan since he is asleep in the bed while we head to the hospital.
They get us taken back really quickly and the dr. is there just as fast. Cole was a little nervous about the bed this time as the last time he was "drowned due to sticking a roly poly up his nose the last time" on it he didn't really want to lay on it, but luckily all we had to do was lift his shirt for the dr. to see the rash and the bite and the dr. listened to his lungs, heart, stomach and looked in his ears and throat. All was good. Still no clue what bit him...
They gave him a strong dose of benadryl and steroids and we had to wait and see how those worked.
They did beautifully because the rash went away after an hour and we got to go home with a prescription for the steroids (which Cole says tastes BAD!) and to continue with benadryl. We get him and I shake out his bed and find nothing...
So there is our 2nd trip to the ER!
Yesterday we went to the softball game and a bee decided to land on Cole's hand and we both flipped out! Why do stinging insects like this boy???
So how are we spending our anniversary tonight. Broke because we paid an ER copay!

August isn't our month...
I had to take our dog, Stevie, to the vet yesterday, he has had a cough for a week. Turns out he has congestive heart failure. He is nine. The coughing is caused from fluid in his lungs. The vet gave him a diuretic and he is taking 2 meds twice a day for 15 days and then I take him back to the vet to reassess and then we have to decide what to do.
On this day a year ago is when I passed out. (Read my medical blog for more info)
Tomorrow a year ago is when MIL when into ICU and never came out.
I mean really... What is it with August????
