They ended up not removing Grace's ventilator. When Larry went to visit her she was lucid and responsive. So they let her remain on it for a couple more days. Instead the ventilator was removed on Saturday, August 25th at around 8:35pm. She passed away at 8:45pm with all of her family around her. We all know she is in a better place and not in pain and discomfort anymore.
We are having a small memorial service here on Sunday and a large one in California in September.
It still seems like a dream. I don't know when and if it ever feels real.

Two weeks in ICU...
This is the email I sent this morning to all our Sunday School class.
They are removing Grace's ventilator tonight at 8pm. Please be with Travis, his father, Larry, his sister Christy, brother Grant and Great Aunt Ellen. This was a very hard decision for them to make but I know this is what Grace would have wanted. I know that we all appreciate the continued prayers throughout the months of Grace’s illness and will continue to feel them throughout the healing process of her loss.
This is the email I sent 10 minutes later.
I just got off the phone with Travis and this morning Grace was very responsive when Travis’ dad, sister and Great Aunt went and visited her. She was able to shake her head to answer questions as well as squeeze hands. She said she remembered people talking to her. They have now decided to give her a few more days to see if she makes progress. We are definitely on a roller coaster and all we ask for is prayers!

Still need prayers...
I am back at work this afternoon. I had to take Logan back to the dr this morning. He was up at 3am with an earache. Double ear infection. I am out of sick days and have been since last week. But what can you do? Family comes first. Luckily I have a very understanding boss.
MIL is still deteriorating. Travis' sister arrived last night and his brother and great aunt will arrive tonight. Deep in my heart I know his mom will pass away tonight. Something just tells this.
Seeing her is so sad. Everytime I visit her I just imagine her as my mom, we were never terribly close but she was my hubbys mommy and seeing her now is heartwrenching. I think it has finally truly hit FIL and he is a mess. This morning when dh, FIL and SIL went to visit her, FIL actually screamed at MIL (who they believe has no brain function) you can't do this to me now. You can't give up.
It is just so sad to see. 2 years ago Travis had all of his grandparents and both parents and now he is down to a grandmother and his dad, when his mom passes. It just seems so odd how fast people are taken away from you.
Thank you all for your support, I am scheduled for my own EEG on Monday to try and figure out what my passing out spell was. I am also just praying that my kids will get well and stay that way!
I will continue to keep you all updated! Thanks ladies!!

Our crazy week...
I have couple of prayer requests for our family.
Monday morning I fainted at work and was taken by ambulance to the ER. I have a huge bruise on my chin and broke a tooth but other than that I am fine. I am back to work this afternoon. However the drs now want to do more tests. They want to do an EEG and get me into a cardiac consult. Please pray that we can find the answers.
Also Logan is home sick this week with a viral throat infection and fever. Cole had it last week. My mom came into town yesterday to care for him.
Finally we got a call at 6pm last night from Travis' dad and he and his mom had been at the ER since 11 am because Travis' mom couldn't breath. They drained her lung and did some scans and found a blood clot. She is now in ICU and they are going to sedate her in hopes of removing the clot. Please pray for her as she was told her chances are 50/50.
Thanks everyone. It seriously feels like we are living a moving on Lifetime right now!

That's Professor K to you!!
I got a call last week from the Dean of Communication at the local community college about an adjunct teaching position. She was asking me if I was still interested. I asked her which classes were available and she told me a MWF class from 10-11 or a Saturday class from 11-2:50. I told her I would need to talk to my boss and see what she thought.
It helps that I already work in higher ed and my boss and I are good friends and she knew that I had been looking into this. So I called the chair back and told her I was interested in the Saturday class. She told me to come in on Tuesday to talk and sign some papers.
I go in on Tuesday and I am completing at W-2 and some other paperwork about being parttime. I didn't even have to interview!! She then starts printing out a copy of the syllabi for me to look over and gives me a tour and the textbooks and basically says you have free reign, here you go!!
What!?! Now these students college learning is in the palm of my hands, so scary!
That is the long and short of it! The funny thing is, as I was about to leave she asked me if I was interested in teaching more than one class. I told her I would just like to start with one. She doesn't even know my skills!! I am hoping I like this and can transition to becoming a full-time professor!!
